The definition of carbon footprint is the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere as a result of the activities of a particular individual, organisation, or community.
In the modern world, it is difficult to avoid. Everyone will leave a carbon footprint of some kind. As a business, it is important to think about how you can mitigate your impact through more thoughtful, careful and considerate actions
Offsetting your carbon footprint is vital as it allows a company to positively contribute to the environment when you can’t avoid a carbon footprint.
It is for this reason that we are delighted to announce our official partnership with Office Impact’s Naturescapes Project, which connects businesses with environmental projects across the globe.
Through the partnership, the Naturescapes Project will plant 15 trees in Buckinghamshire and 15 trees across the border in Northamptonshire – the two awards areas, to offset the carbon footprint left by us organising the awards.
They will also offer all award entrants a 25% discount on Naturescapes Project membership.
This is an incredible initiative that we hope all small local businesses will engage with. It is really important to us that our actions support, not only the business community, but the whole community and this project shows our commitment to the bigger picture.
We believe everyone has a part to play in protecting our planet for future generations. Our award entrants and winners are innovative, intelligent, responsible people who want to be a force for good and leave a legacy. This project is a brilliant way for SME’s to offset their carbon footprint and really make a difference.
Environmentally conscious companies may already be doing something similar, but this doesn’t have to be a stand-alone approach. All efforts to reduce our impact on the environment should be celebrated.
The winners of the Green Award and Sustainability Award will both be gifted Champion Level Naturescapes membership – giving them 5 trees planted on their behalf with a certificate and details on the carbon that has been offset.
There is still time to enter the SME MK and Buckinghamshire Business Awards, which offer more than 20 different categories including Best Customer Service, Website of the Year and Lockdown Leader. For more information, visit https://www.buckinghamshireawards.co.uk/
